When the heavy rain season arrives the flash floods often occur on the road that passes through the Lutong old airstrip, Miri. The road became flooded when rain water cannot flow out well because there is no proper drainage system. The driver had to be careful through the road, afraid of get into a hole that cannot be seen due to the road covered by water.
If the road is allowed to continue so, finally the road will be severely damaged and perforated and it is dangerous to the road users that always go by the road, especially on rainy days and at night. There are no street lights along the road. This thing has been going on because no one else is taking action to solve the problem of flash floods in the road.
We urge the Miri City Council (MCC) and the relevant authorities immediately address the problem from protracted with the construction of drains to ease the excessive rain water to flow out into a nearby ditch and also install street lights along the road for the convenience of road users through the road. Cooperation with the parties concerned is highly appreciated.
