PAS will continue to raise issues concerning the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), including during next month’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.
PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man claimed that the delay in releasing the report had negative implications for the government, particularly as it was disclosed during the campaign for the Negri Sembilan election in July.
“The TH RCI issue will continue to be raised. The TH RCI investigation is of public interest, and it needs to be brought up based on all findings from the inquiry,” he said when contacted today.
Tuan Ibrahim, who is also Perikatan Nasional deputy chairman, said the party understood the implications of the disclosure on TH depositors, such as concerns over mass withdrawals.
“However, that is no excuse to delay presenting the report if explanations had been provided earlier,” he said.
The RCI report was published on July 29, revealing key findings on the institution’s management and governance between 2014 and 2020.
Several parties, including leaders from Umno and Perikatan Nasional, had questioned why the report was released during the Negri Sembilan election campaign.
During the Special Parliamentary Sitting to discuss the TH RCI report on Aug 11, opposition MPs from Pas and Wawasan walked out of the lower house after their motion to postpone the session was rejected by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.Source NST
