Act Immediately! To Avoid Untoward Incidents

A pedestrian was killed while crossing the road from Sekolah Kebangsaan Syed Othman heading to Masjid At Taqwa Miri on the 5th night of Ramadan last night.

According to a young man who told us that the incident occurred when the pedestrian want to perform Isyaq prayers.

According to him an accident involving a vehicle happened so fast that many are not aware of the incident that happened there.

There have been many accidents occur on the road as a result of the negligent driver and ignore the warning signs of traffic in the schools area.

We have urged the authorities to set up ‘Speed Bump’ to control the speed of vehicles in the area, but to date no action taken until the fatal accident happened there.

Despite a slow word or “SLOW” on the yellow stripes on the road it is less effective because there were times when motorists or vehicle drivers speeding at night as if they were racing.

Once again, we urge the authorities immediately build ‘Speed Bump’ in the area to avoid untoward incidents happen to school children and pedestrians using the road.

We do not want to hear this occurring again in the area that claimed the lives of pedestrians, especially at night.  The authorities must act immediately for the safety of school children and pedestrians.

Cooperation with related parties to resolve this issue immediately is greatly appreciated.

Yours faithfully
