National Unity Must Prevail Over Provocation And Division

165

I refer to the media statement issued by Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, Secretary-General of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), regarding the recent ethnic tensions that have sparked public debate.

The PAS National Unity Bureau is of the view that issues involving religious sensitivities, ethnicity, and places of worship must be handled with wisdom, prudence, and a deep awareness of Malaysia’s plural society.

Any form of provocation, baseless accusations, or actions that may fuel suspicion and hostility between communities are irresponsible and must be rejected by all parties.

In this regard, I would also like to emphasise the importance of the authorities acting promptly, transparently, and fairly in managing any tensions that arise.

Fair enforcement of the law, accurate clarification, and clear crisis communication are essential to prevent misunderstandings, speculation, and tensions that could threaten social harmony.

At the same time, all parties—including political leaders, community leaders, organisations, and media platforms—must act with greater maturity and responsibility when commenting on or reporting issues involving religious and ethnic sensitivities.

Malaysia needs voices that calm the situation and strengthen national unity, not voices that inflame hostility.

The PAS National Unity Bureau remains committed to strengthening efforts to preserve harmony among religions and ethnic communities, in line with the spirit of the Federal Constitution, which guarantees the rights and dignity of every citizen.
