Majlis Syura Ulama PAS will discuss a “paper” on co-operation with other political parties on December 17 ahead of the next general elections, its spiritual leader Hashim Jasin said.
Mursyudul Aman Ustaz Hashim Jasin said that the results of the discussion will then be brought to a meeting to allow the party to decide on the matter.
“There has been no talks [between party leaders] officially, but unofficially there might have been some. We don’t have any decision as to who we want to work with, the Syura Council is yet to meet on this matter,” he reportedly said.
“There will be a paper that will be tabled on December 17, we want to let people discuss and digest first,” he added.
PAS currently is in a coalition called Gagasan Sejahtera with Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia since it left Pakatan Rakyat over a year ago.
Ustaz Hashim had recently welcomed the idea of a straight fight in the next elections with Barisan Nasional, but had said that certain conditions remain for PAS to participate in an electoral pact.
PAS has previously insisted that it will only form an alliance where Muslims would lead, and forbade those in such an alliance to impede its Islamist goals and ambitions.
