KUALA TERENGGANU — The people need to collectively contribute to the state if they wish to establish a welfare state in accordance with the Islamic principles, says PAS president Datuk Seri Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang.
He said people should place religious interests first, by allowing the government to implement its administration in accordance with Islamic teachings.
“In a welfare state, Islam encourages its people to perform welfare themselves, not just wait for the state (government) to do so. If we look into history,
“the Muslims had always been willing to build mosques using their own money to earn reward,” he said when delivering a lecture at the Rusila Mosque, on Friday.
He added that although the government was responsible for the welfare of the people, it would be more complete if all parties played a role.
