Over 1,200 staff of several agencies were evacuated from the Federal Government complex in Ayer Keroh when cracks appeared on pillars at the entrance of the building.
Cracks also appeared on the second and third floor of the four-storey building which housed the National Drug Agency and Immigration Department respectively. Some 12 agencies and departments have offices in the building.
It is learnt that a loud noise was heard at about 3pm and the alarm was raised for the evacuation.
It is learnt that officers of the National Security Council ordered all staff to evacuate at 4pm until further notice.
Fire and Rescue Department staff were at the site to investigate.-TheStarOnline
