KUALA TERENGGANU: PAS Youth Wing has likened the alleged relations between domestic factions and the International Republican Institute (IRI) as an act of treason.
Party youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi said domestic factions with alleged ties to the institute are “opening doors” or “preparing a base” for foreign intervention into the country’s state of affairs.
“The action of those factions are an act of betrayal, and we urge the authorities to be aware and to prepare a contingency plan to deal with it,” he said in a statement on posted on social media.
Khalil also said that such organisations are closely connected to intelligence agencies that spread their doctrines and propaganda through education, training and funding.
“Without knowing it, the country could be facing a new method for occupying a nation,” he said.
He said authorities should take steps to prevent, monitor and investigate the situation thoroughly.
“The people would want regular updates on the situation and the steps taken to deal with it.
Simply denying the alleged relations and closing the book on this matter isn’t enough,” he said – thestar
