Johor Pas election director Tan Sri Annuar Musa, when asked how cooperation within PN would be affected by the party’s decision to sever ties with Bersatu, drew a clear distinction between the two relationships.

Several Perikatan Nasional leaders expressed satisfaction with the finalisation of seat negotiations as they left the meeting at Pas headquarters here today.

Johor Pas election director Tan Sri Annuar Musa, when asked how cooperation within PN would be affected by the party’s decision to sever ties with Bersatu, drew a clear distinction between the two relationships.

“That (between Pas and Bersatu) is bilateral. This (PN) is multilateral,” he told reporters after the meeting.

Also seen attending the meeting was PN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

Annuar said PN and Pas operated on separate tracks, adding that PN would continue to seek the best way forward without letting emotions take over.

“We sat down nicely together to allocate seats. No seats were ‘thrown’ around,” he said.

Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu echoed the positive sentiment when asked whether Bersatu would lead the coalition’s efforts in Johor.

“We work together. InsyaAllah, we will work together towards success,” he said.

Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau and Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) president P. Punithan also expressed their approval of the meeting’s outcome as they left the venue.

The 56-seat Johor legislative assembly was dissolved on June 1, paving the way for the 16th state election, with polling set for July 11.

Nomination day will fall on Saturday, while early voting will be held on July 7. NST
