The monsoon season that hit today cause population of Kpg Batu 1 Jalan Lutong Kuala Baram always in a state of alert against floods especially in low areas. Among the main problems faced by the villagers is a narrow road and drainage blockages that cause flash flooding in their village.
One of the villagers known as Zainal said they has several times complained problem of narrow roads and clogged drainage to local authorities but until now there has not been any action taken to resolve the issue.

It also can be a danger to road users if they are not careful at the narrow road junction and may cause injury to motorcyclists in the event of falling into a ditch nearby.
Villagers suggested that larger culverts used to form the structure of the route at the junction of the road so that it is easier for vehicles passing by, besides enabling smooth flow of drainage water. With the proper drainage system and concrete can avoid flash floods.
Due to the village roads under the supervision of local authorities then become the responsibility of the relevant parties for refurbishment and upgrading of rural roads. Among other problems are a large trash should be placed in their residential area.
We urge the relevant parties can make use of the existing provisions as soon as possible to resolve the problems concerned with building a concrete drainage system and widen the road for the facilities of the village.
We have looked at the area indeed there is still no any action taken by the parties concerned to resolve the issue. We will continue to monitor and raised the issue of the people from time to time to ensure that the provisions for the people properly used.
Cooperation with relevant parties to solve drainage problems and other issues faced by the villagers of Batu 1 immediately is greatly appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
