Pas central committee member Tan Sri Annuar Musa has been appointed Johor Pas election director for the 16th state election.
Johor Pas information chief Mohd Firdaus Jaffar said the appointment was aimed at strengthening the party’s machinery ahead of the state polls, which are expected to be held soon.
“Johor Pas welcomes the appointment of Tan Sri Annuar Musa as election director and is confident his experience and leadership will strengthen preparations and coordination of the party machinery for the Johor election.
“As polling day approaches, all Johor Pas machinery are urged to strengthen unity, intensify grassroots efforts and focus on election preparations,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Mohd Firdaus said Johor Pas fully supported the party leadership’s decision to end political cooperation with Bersatu.
He said the matter was discussed at a special meeting of the Johor Pas liaison committee yesterday, where members unanimously agreed to respect the decision.
“Johor Pas believes the move does not undermine efforts towards ummah unity, which remains central to the party’s struggle.
“We will continue to support any political understanding or electoral pact decided by the central leadership for the upcoming election,” he said.
The Johor legislative assembly was dissolved on June 1 with the consent of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, giving the Election Commission 60 days to hold the state election.NST
