Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has been appointed the new Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general following a leadership reshuffle during the coalition’s supreme council meeting, today.
Takiyuddin replaces Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali who stepped down from the post in January and has now been appointed PN deputy secretary-general.
In another key change, Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has been appointed PN deputy chairman, replacing Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
The coalition’s other deputy chairmen are Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin; Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai; and Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) president Punithan Paramsivam.
Meanwhile, Bersatu vice-president Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin has been appointed PN election director, replacing Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who has been reassigned as the coalition’s treasurer-general.
The coalition’s women’s chief post is now held by acting Bersatu Srikandi chief Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi, replacing Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
Mas Ermieyati, the Masjid Tanah member of parliament, was recently suspended from Bersatu for two terms or six years for violating the party’s constitution and code of conduct.
PN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the appointments were made in accordance with Clauses 8.2 and 8.3 of the coalition’s constitution.
He added that appointments for state liaison committee chairmen would be decided at a later meeting.
“It will be done after I conduct working visits to all states after Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said after chairing the supreme council meeting. – NST
