Both, PAS President Tan Sri Tuan Guru Hadi Awang and Mursyidul Am Tuan Guru Ustaz Hashim were part of the Syura Council, the party’s highest decision-making body.
PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has downplayed talk of a rift between the party’s president and its Mursyidul Am (spiritual leader).
“The president (Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang) and the spiritual leader (Datuk Hashim Jasin) have no issues,” Tuan Ibrahim which he is also a member of, said when asked about supposed tensions over differing views.
“We see differing views as normal, and they can be overcome because we meet frequently. If there is a problem, we have a platform to resolve it,” he said in an interview with Sinar Harian.
“The spiritual leader chairs the Syura Council, but decisions are made collectively. The spiritual leader’s views are his own, but they do not have to be the same as the council’s. Still, we respect his role,” he said.
