PAS has dismissed the suggestion by Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah to reinstate three former party assemblymen as elected representatives, even if they remain independents.
PAS lDeputy President Datuk Seri Ustaz Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said it was premature to discuss the matter, as the next election was still some way off.
“This issue does not arise because the election is still a long way off. We have yet to know who the candidates will be or which seats will be contested,” said the Kubang Kerian MP yesterday.
Utusan Malaysia reported that Abu Bakar proposed the move, arguing that the three former assemblymen — Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong) and Saad Seman (Chuping) — still had a mandate to look after their constituents.
Abu Bakar said the Perlis state government hoped a solution could be found to restore political stability and safeguard the welfare of the people. NST
