PORT DICKSON, Sept 11 (Bernama) — The Teluk Kemang Umno division unanimously named Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad as the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate to stand in the by-election for the Bagan Pinang state seat.
The division’s Youth head, Mohd Faizal Ramli said the decision was reached at a meeting held by the Teluk Kemang Umno division yesterday.
“The nomination of Mohd Isa, who is also the Telok Kemang Umno head, received the unanimous support of the 33 committee members of the division who attended the meeting. The committee members present had stated their unanimous support for Mohd Isa as they were confident that his experience and leadership would help the BN in defending the seat,” he said here Friday.
Mohd Faizal, who is also the BN deputy director for the by-election, said the decision was taken because the Umno division felt that Mohd Isa was the best candidate.
“That is the wish of the grassroots and we hope the top leadership would respect the decision of the grassroots. The move by the division is not a protest to party deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s instruction to list several names as the possible candidate,” he said.
