Some Evacuees Return Home As Kemaman Flood Situation Improves

KUALA TERENGGANU –  The flood situation in Kemaman has improved, with several evacuees returning to their homes Monday evening.

A spokesman of the Kemaman District Flood Operations Room said 486 evacuees remained at relief centres from the 839 evacuated Monday morning.

“We expect more evacuees to return to their homes if the weather continues to improve,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

He said two relief centres, at the Kerteh police station quarters and the Batu 9 community hall in Kijal were closed this evening after the evacuees returned to their homes.

The spokesman said the level of rivers in Kemaman were normal except for Sungai Kerteh which was at 3.38 metres, above the danger level of 3.20 metres.
