KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 — The Dewan Rakyat today rejected a motion moved by Salahuddin Ayub (PAS-Kubang Kerian) on March 24 to have Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak referred to the Rights and Privileges Committee for allegedly misleading the House on the government’s compassionate fund for Kelantan.

Deputy Speaker Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar in rejecting the motion, said the Prime Minister did not mislead the house and was only declaring the government’s stand on the matter based on the Federal Constitution, Petroleum Development Act 1974 and the Federal Government’s agreement with 13 states.

“Furthermore, if it is true the Kelantan government intends to bring the issue to the courts, the use of the term oil royalty might be prejudicial to the case,” he said at the close of the question and answer session for today.

The Dewan Rakyat had asked for week to evaluate documents submitted by Salahuddin to support his motion before making a decision on its merits.
