Crimes such as robbery, burglary, rape, murder and kidnapping on the rise in recent years. Cases such as rape, kidnapping children and brutally murdered as reported in the local newspaper a few weeks ago also got the attention of the public.
Almost every day we read a newspaper reports that involving cases such as burglary, robbery and rape occur everywhere in our country, including Miri city. Recently, we heard a case of burglary and rape of a teenage girl in Miri. This problem shows how critical social problems occurring in our country. The pace of development of a city that is not commensurate with the socio-cultural and the local community can create social problems.
Criminal cases are most occur in residential areas and this creates fear among the residents, especially the women and girls who live alone. The criminals seem to be getting bolder committing crimes without fear of facing legal action in the country’s civil crime.
These need to think together, Why are these crime are becoming more common and what actions of the internal security authorities to solve this problem?
Why the enactment of criminal law that is created by human failed and less effective in preventing this crime from a massive scale.
It’s been dozens of years and all kinds of ways criminal legislation enacted, but the problem is still not solved appropriately. It is here shown human laws there are plenty of weaknesses until fail to resolve or reduce the rate of serious criminal activity from continuing.
When there is a party that proposed enactment of sharia criminal law implemented in the country, almost all opposed supposedly harsh and cruel punishments, but they are not aware of Sharia law causing people feel fear and faltered, especially those who are involved in serious criminal activities such as robbery, rape, and murder and so on.
There are also some people who strive hard against Syariah laws supposedly unfair and could cause chaos in the country. If this crime happened upon them and their families, then they realize how cruel crimes like robbery, rape and murder.
Are those who are strongly against the sharia criminal law will silence and let the killers of their families are free and willing to see this thing continue to happen, with no decisive action is taken against these criminals?
Because of those ignorance about the pros and Sharia justice causes those continue to resist in a state of those does not aware that this Sharia law is better to be implemented for the prevention of crime on a massive scale.
The authorities should use mass media more widely such as radio and TV to explains about the benefits of sharia criminal law act throughout the country so that the people can understand the justice and goodness found in the legislation from continued let certain party discredit of the sharia criminal penalties
Those are experts in Sharia criminal law should come forward together explanations of goodness and justice in the law, so that people can receive it well. They say if you do not know then you do not love, when people understand the goodness and justice of this legislation there is no issue to be politicized.
However, while we discuss about prevention according to the Sharia laws that will be implemented, we urge the Home Ministry to take immediate action to prevent crime by building a police station in a residential area or a mobile police station placed at various hot spots in the state. When there is a mobile police station in a residential area, at least social problems and crime can be reduced, even if it will not necessarily be able to solve the problem completely.
The authorities have done a number of ways to overcome this problem and yet it has no effect. So the best way to solve social problems and criminal activities is a return to religious teachings and implement Syariah laws.
Hopefully social problems and criminal activities can be curbed from a massive scale in collaboration with the security and the public. Hope this problem gets due attention from the authorities and the Ministry of Home Affairs to act accordingly.
