KUALA TERENGGANU – Terengganu police chief Datuk Rosli Ab Rahman said the suspects had also been remanded for a week until November 25 to facilitate further investigation into the murder case.

“On November 27 last year, the police were informed about the discovery of skeletal remains of a man in a sewer pipe on Aring-Kenyir route, but initial investigation found no evidence of foul play in the death of the 29-year-old construction worker and the case was classified as sudden death.

“However, with the new development, we have reclassified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“One of the three suspects had also received court prosecution order under the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.”

Rosli said of the 10 suspects arrested in connection with the murder of the former assemblyman and shooting incident, seven had been released, with one on police bail.

Further investigation on the two cases are still ongoing, he added. The assemblyman, Alias Abdullah, 51, died after being shot at close range in front of his house in Kampung Alor Limbat Bukit Payong, Marang, after Friday prayer on October 9.

On August 27, a 28-year-old man was injured after being shot at by robbers who tried to hijacked his four-wheel-drive vehicle in Jalan Hiliran, Pulau Kambing. – Bernama
