

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, its vice president Datuk Mahfuz Omar said if is this was not possible, the party would field a candidate again in Beting Maro, as it did in the last state election in 2006.
The Member of Parliament for Pokok Sena also said that discussions on seat allocation among the components in the Pakatan coalition for the Sarawak election were still underway.
He added that Pakatan would also be holding discussions with opposition parties in Sarawak to avoid three-way fights.
In the 2006 election, the Barisan Nasional (BN) of the 71 seats up for grabs, the Barisan Nasional won 63 seats with Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) winning 35, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) (12), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) eight each while on the opposition side, DAP garnered six seats while Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) one each.
As for the upcoming by-election in Merlimau, Melaka on March 6 where a PAS candidate will represent Pakatan, Mahfuz said it would be an uphill task against the BN there but Pakatan would be emphasising on the latest upheavals in the Middle East as examples on the need for good governance to make an impact.- Bernama
