KUALA TERENGGANU – All PAS candidates for the upcoming 14th general election (GE14) will be screened to ensure that they are not involved in corrupt or criminal acts.
Terengganu PAS commissioner, Ustaz Satiful Bahari Mamat, who is also the Paka state assemblyman, said that it is the norm for the party to screen its election candidates.
“We do this to ensure that we have winnable candidates who are clean of any form of corrupt or criminal act.
“The screening is done by our Majlis Syura to ensure that they remain ‘clean’ at all times, even for small offences, and will not escape attention,” said Satiful, adding that the system has been in place for a very long time.
He further emphasised that the party is ready for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to vet Pas candidates for GE14.
“We welcome the MACC to screen our candidates at any time,” said Satiful.
