Datuk Abu Bakar Chik, who is the party’s national education bureau chief, claimed that an investigation conducted by his team had found that these 20 students had been impregnated by their boyfriends.

“This is shocking news. We are convinced that more secondary students in the state could be pregnant, especially those in rural areas,” he told The Star.

He said PAS was now hoping that Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would intervene and reveal the actual number of expectant mothers among students in the state.

“Social ills have plagued our schoolchildren. The Government should address this and find out why the new generation is prone to carry out immoral activities,” he added.

It is learnt that these students got pregnant sometime between end of last year and early this year.

Those pregnant are apparently Form Three and Form Four students. Their parents have been informed of the pregnancies.

Abu Bakar said that the party was also concern about the future of these babies born out of wedlock.-TheStarOnline
