SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has denied speculations that he may vacate the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat to make way for new PKR member Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

“It was never discussed. Such a big issue is usually discussed by our political bureau,” he said when commenting on an online news report that he might vacate the seat after the Manek Urai by-election in Kelantan on July 14.

Khalid, who is also Selangor PKR chief, said he felt that it was not a suitable time for another by-election as the people were tired of it.

Zaid, who claimed to be surprised by the speculation, also denied the report, saying it was just rumour created by some quarters.

The former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department was sacked by Umno in December last year. He joined PKR on June 13.

PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarded Zaid’s decision to join the party as an honour and said it would help its political struggle. – The Star
