Housing residents uncomfortable with smelly garbage

840

Residents in the vicinity of housing areas in Bintulu complained to PAS Bintulu about garbage collection problem that does not follow timetable that has been set. The situation worsens when the Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with Sarawak Waste Management Sdn Bhd, has announced that it will hand over the collection and transportation services of municipal waste to Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) starting last Oct 1.

One of the residents who live in Taman Angsana inform us that the BDA has more than two weeks are not collecting garbage in their neighborhoods. The failure of the BDA collecting garbage three times a week cause Taman Ansana residents uncomfortable with the stink of garbage is not collected on time.

Despite reports and complaints were made by residents to the BDA, but the answer is quite disappointing the reason is garbage truck damaged. The BDA should provide larger bins to accommodate waste that is too many in residential areas. They said that every year they pay the assessment, but the services provided by the parties concerned were disappointing. Most of the residents peeved with the problems whereas they pay for various types of service tax and expect services to be given to them accordingly.

We urge the BDA and those concerned immediately overcome this problem from prolonged so that residents in the housing area does not continue living in an uncomfortable situation due to the foul smell of uncollected garbage. Trusts and responsibility of the parties concerned to resolve this problem immediately is very much appreciated.

Yours faithfully
