KUALA TERENGGANU: A former President’s Cup state team football player has been shown the ‘red card’ outside the pitch for allegedly running foul of the law.
The 21-year-old man, who was once the toast of the local football fraternity, has been detained with his 34-year-old wife to facilitate police investigations into state-wide drug trafficking.
The couple were picked up about 9.30pm last Saturday after police investigators found 120 grammes of heroin at their house in Taman Tasik, Wakaf Dua in Bukit Payong.
Seized from the couple were cash, bank account books, a Honda Feroy car, Honda EX5 motorcycle, and jewellery totalling RM217,412, state narcotics criminal investigation department chief Superintendent Roslan Abd Wahid said today.
He said initial investigations indicated the couple had been distributing drugs throughout the state over the past three years. The drugs were believed to have been obtained from a source in Thailand.-Bernama
