Difficulties in obtaining signature of senior officers troublesome the customer

Public service in departments of government agencies are still not satisfactory and efficient in handling customer problems, especially in matters involving immediate signature of the senior officers responsible for dealing with the public.

For example, when we as a customers come to the government department counter during office hours to get a signature letter of endorsement, the officer in charge told us that their superiors are not in the office because out of region or go on vacation.

Many complain about the related problems especially during the holiday season where many senior officers who served on the issuance of passport, travel documents, visa, and so on require the signature of the officer on duty there is no substitute. This causes the customer had to wait for the next day or have to go back to get a signature from the senior officer in charge.

For example we find that this problem occurs in several government agencies such as the Immigration Office in Miri and Miri Resident’s Office where when we require a signature to process Extension Application Forms or A Statutory Declaration had to wait for a long time until the officers that have the authority to sign the letter back from vacation or meeting outside the office.

Supposed be the problem of the officers that authorized to sign a letter need to find a replacement or acting that may be authorized to sign a letter of authentication immediately without having to wait too long to process before taking a long vacation. The government department should also think about the problems faced by the customers who have to take leave and also having to commute just waiting or get the letter signed.

Some came from far away had to come back just to get signatures of the senior officer in charge. This is certainly troublesome the customers who want their business settled for the day. Time wasted offhand just to get a signature from a senior officer in charge.

We urge the government and those concerned to give best services to our customers and to resolve customer issues quickly without troubling any of the customer especially those come a long way from Miri district. They want their business done on the same day and not to be resolved the next day. Cooperation with relevant parties to resolve this problem immediately is greatly appreciated.
