Behave, Hishammuddin tells Umno Terengganu

Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein gave a stern warning today for fractious Umno Terengganu to place the party before individual interests ahead of likely snap polls this year.

Last December, Hishammuddin was replaced as Terengganu Umno chief by the state’s mentri besar, Datuk Ahmad Said.

Today, the Umno vice-president downplayed the rift within Terengganu Umno, saying he was confident the party can move forward under Ahmad.

“I don’t think there was major in-fighting but it required a third party to make them realise that at the end of the day that it is not worth continuing any kind of friction because if the party doesn’t survive and whatever position you hold in the party  is meaningless.

“This is because sometimes you are caught up in your own immediate local problems that you do not see the bigger picture,” he said attending the handing over ceremony of Terengganu’s Umno liaison committee chairman.

Umno Terengganu has been embroiled in a bitter tussle between two factions headed by Ahmad and the former state Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.

The first term mentri besar is said to be unpopular among the majority of the BN Terengganu assemblymen, who remain staunch supporters of Idris.

Ahmad also confirmed that he had met with Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak earlier today and would be announcing a reshuffle to the state line up, the details of which he refused to divulge.

“I will announce (the reshuffle) when I hold my first state liaison meeting. I will hold the meeting soon, maybe this month,” said Ahmad. – MalaysianInsider
