JOHOR BAHARU, June 14 (Bernama) — Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan has urged members to refrain from ‘cah keting,’ activities to ensure a Barisan Nasional (BN) win in the Manik Urai by-election on July 14.
He said this was necessary as history showed that a seat in Kelantan had been won or lost by a mere two votes.
‘Cah keting’ is a Kelantan phrase for wasteful action which include sabotaging the party’s candidate.
“Hopefully, ‘cah keting’ will not happen in Manik Urai. Umno members should not sabotage one another but give support to the BN candidate.
“We don’t want to lose the state by-election by a slim margin due to ‘cah keting,’ he said at a Gelang Patah Umno information programme here today.
The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department urged fence sitters in Manik Urai to vote BN as a win for the party would not affect the PAS state government of Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
He said the people of Manik Urai would see rapid development if BN was to win the by-election as the constituency has been adopted by the federal government.
“However, a PAS win will not bring any changes. Everything will go back to square one,” he added.
