About 1,200 party delegates, observers, guests of honour and members of the local and foreign press were present for the opening ceremony that began at 9am. The morning session saw a parade by the party’s Unit Amal, the singing of the party’s official anthem and a 36-page keynote address by the party’s president, Datuk Seri Tuan Guru Haji Abdul Hadi Awang. This year’s theme was ‘Islam Memimpin Perubahan‘ (‘Islam leading change’).
