Marang police chief DSP Ahmad Mazlan Yahaya said two others seriously injured were admitted to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) in a coma.

Mechanic Mohd Azmani Azalan@Zed, 31, and daughter Nor Fatin Alia, 3, were killed in the crash at 11.30am.

The injured were Norrul Hidayah Ghazali,25, (Azmani’s sister-in-law) and Muzaiman Mohd,26, the driver of the other car.

Also injured was Wan Mohd Hasih Wan Yahaya, 16 (Azmani’s nephew) who was treated for facial injury.

Mazlan said the crash occured when Azmani was fetching wife Norazlina Ghazali, 27, from Kuantan.

The Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) employee was 8 months pregnant.

He said it happened when the Proton Wira Aeroback driven by Muzaiman entered Azmani’s lane and collided head-on in heavy rainfall.

“Muzaiman was in a convoy with his wife who was driving in front. The wife who saw the crash via the mirror turned back and dragged him to safety before the car burst into flames,” he added.

The two bodies were sent to HSNZ for an autopsy before handed to the family for burial at the Muslim cemetery at Kampung Gelugur Raja in Wakaf Mempelam.

Meanwhile, Norazlina who arrived at HSNZ to claim the bodies at 4.40pm looked weak and had to be led by family members.

“I just spoke to him over the phone. I am shocked by what had happened,” she said holding back tears and consoled by father Ghazali Mat Amin, 52.

Ghazali said initially, Nor Fatin did not want to follow her father to fetch her mother in Kuantan.

Nor Fatin changed her mind after Norrul Hidayah promised to buy her a dress for Aidilfitri and see monkeys at Teluk Chempedak.

He regretted not meeting Azmani and Nor Fatin before they left for Kuantan.- BERNAMA
