KUALA TERENGGANU – A couple of former officers from a government broadcasting department pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here Monday to misappropriating funds two years ago.
Accused Dr Nawiyah Che Lah, 56,(pic Left) and Noor Asmihan Mansor, 52, allegedly misappropriated RM2,250 in cash from the Terengganu Sports Council at the state Broadcasting Department here between October and December 2010.
At the time, Nawiyah was a director of the Terengganu Broadcasting Department and Noor Asmihan a chief programmer at Radio Televisyen Malaysia.
The cash was apparently payment for a mini studio to be set up at an agricultural event in Hulu Terengganu from Oct 14 to 15, 2010.
They were charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code which is punishable by not less than six months and not more than five years and caning and fine, upon conviction.
Judge Datuk Zainal Abidin Kamaruddin set bail at RM5,000 with one surety each and fixed May 17 for remention.- BERNAMA
