State CID chief ACP K. Manoharan said the post-mortem report showed that the baby died at birth.
The dead baby, believed to be of Malay parentage, was born 12 hours before it was found by workers who were cleaning up the dump site, he said.
“We believe the garbage that was dumped at the site was collected around Cukai.
“The body is believed to have been carried by the Kemaman Municipal Council garbage truck which was the last to dump garbage at the site, at about 3pm. So far, we haven’t got any clue regarding the case,” he said when met at his office.
According to news reports, the body, with its umbilical cord attached, was found inside a plastic sack at 5.50pm.
