KUALA TERENGGANU: Police have detained the mother of the baby boy found abandoned in front of a house in Kampung Beladau on Friday.
Terengganu CID chief ACP K. Manoharan said Tuesday the shop assistant was detained at 3.30pm on Monday after admitting that the baby was hers.
“She admitted after we interrogated her for giving conflicting statements. We also found several baby items in her house,” he told reporters here.
Manoharan said the woman, 22, was sent to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for further examination and DNA testing.
Police believed that they would be able to identify the baby’s father soon.
The case is being investigated under Section 371 of Penal Code for abandoning the baby and Section 182 for making a false report.
