KUALA TERENGGANU – Eight students suspected of forging documents in their quest for preparatory financial aid for diploma courses from the Terengganu Foundation last year will be charged next month.

Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the alleged fraud was discovered when the foundation found their names were not in the list of recipients.

He said seven of the students reportedly altered the last four digits of photostat copies of identity cards belonging to others while another was said to have printed and amended an offer letter meant for a student.

He was speaking to reporters after presenting 4,062 university students financial aid amounting to RM1,000 each here today. The aid was from the foundation.

Meanwhile, Ahmad said the state government had spent about RM4.6 million in preparatory financial aid for students pursuing diplomas, certificates and matriculation, as well as for boarding school students.- BERNAMA
