KUALA TERENGGANU – PAS will not compromise with any quarters over the question of faith of Muslims in this country.

Its secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali said PAS would also not protect anyone trying to proselytise Muslims.

“This is our stand and we will never compromise with anyone over the faith of Muslims in this country.

“This is because, compromising on this means going against Islamic principles and this is even prohibited under the Federal Constitution,” he told a news conference, here, today.

Also present was Terengganu PAS commissioner who is also Kuala Terengganu member of parliament, Abdul Wahid Endut.

“Based on the Federal Constitution, it is an offence for anyone trying to proselytise or persuade Muslims to leave their religion,” Mustafa said.

In regard to this, he urged PAS leaders and members not to get “trapped” in the issue involving the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) and Damansara Utama Methodist Church following Jais’ investigation at the church on Aug 3. — BERNAMA
