PAS Will Never Join Pakatan

PAS today told Pakatan Harapan there is no chance the Islamic party will ever work with the federal opposition pact.

PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the position was reinforced following DAP and Amanah’s responses to Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s private member’s Bill to raise sentencing limits for Shariah crimes.

“This decision was proven correct by the continued confrontational attitude of DAP and Amanah towards PAS’s Islamic agenda including (Hadi’s Bill),” Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement today.

“This attitude was apparent in Parliament on April 6 when the PAS president and secretary-general tabled the Bill.”

He said both parties’ response to Hadi’s Bill showed that the PAS president was correct to describe them as burdensome nuisances to the Islamist party.

Tuan Ibrahim then accused opponents to his party’s bid for stiffer religious punishments of now attempting to smear PAS with baseless allegations, in apparent reference to allegations that the Islamist party received funds from rival Umno.

“PAS will not be with Pakatan Harapan. Period,” he said.

PAS will review its ties with PKR at its muktamar later this month.

It has already rejected Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s advances due to the latter’s cooperation with DAP and Amanah. – themalaymailonline.
