Intermittent rain, strong waves warning

http://buletinonline.net/http://buletinonline.net/v7/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/14252.jpgKUALA LUMPUR: Intermittent and sometimes moderate rain occurred in several areas in the East Coast of peninsular Malaysia and it was expected to continue until today.

According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the areas are Pasir Puteh, Bachok, Kota Baharu, Pasir Mas and Tumpat  in Kelantan while in Terengganu the areas are Kuala Terengganu, Setiu and Besut.

The rain may cause floods in low-lying areas and those near the river banks.

The department also expected strong north-easterly winds with a speed of between 40 and 50 kilometres per hour and waves of up to 3.5 metres in the waters of Condore, Reef North and Layang-Layang, Samui (Kelantan and Terengganu), Tioman (East Johor and Pahang), Sarawak (Kuching, Mukah, Bintulu and  Miri)  and Sabah beginning today until Sunday. — Bernama
