Kelantan Not ‘Desperate’, No Need For Snap Polls – Ustaz Ahmad Yaakob

The Kelantan government will not call for a snap election, saying that there is no need to do so since the state still commanded a strong mandate from voters.

Kelantan mentri besar Datuk Ahmad Yaakob said that calls by PAS’s political opponents to call for a statewide election was purely “political” and that a lot of preparation was needed beforehand.

“There is no proof that the people have lost trust in the PAS government in this state until we are desperate to call for a state election, it is best we follow other states if they want to call for elections,” Sinar Harian quoted him as saying.

“We still have a mandate, we are working hard to prioritise the people, perhaps (calls for state elections) are from a political perspective.

“PAS is still continuing its work in the state government,” Ahmad added.

The Kelantan MB was responding to calls by the state Umno deputy liaison chief Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub who had said that snap polls should be called as the people in Kelantan no longer had faith in the current state government.
