Seize 19 Bottles Believed Containing Heroin
KUALA TERENGGANU – Despite being in and out of jail three times, it was not enough to teach a 55-year-old man a lesson and three days ago, he was detained again for alleged drug possession.
Terengganu narcotic chief Supt Roslan Abd Wahid said the man was detained about 6pm last Thursday while her was in his car which was parked in front of Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque in Kuala Ibai here.
Following a search, police found nine small bottles, believed containing heroin, in his trouser pocket and another 10 bottles in the car, and also RM3,100 on him, he told a media conference here Sunday.
Roslan said the suspect, from Kampung Alor Peroi, Kuala Besut, had been sentenced to a total of 34 years jail and 16 strokes of the rotan for various drug related offences.
The suspect had just been released from Marang prison last June, he added.
He said police had obtained an order to remand the suspect until Jan 20 for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carried the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
