KUALA LUMPUR – Strong north-easterly winds with speed of between 50 and 60 kilometre per hour (kmph), causing waves as high as 4.5m, is expected in waters off Kelantan and Terengganu from today until next Tuesday.

ombak kuatAccording to the Malaysian Meteorological Department, such a weather condition is dangerous to all shipping and beach activities, including fishing and ferry service.

In a statement issued here today, the department said the coastal areas in Kelantan and Terengganu would also be exposed to the high tide phenomenon.

Meanwhile, strong north-easterly winds of 40-50kmph with waves as high as 3.5m is expected in waters off Pahang, East Johor, Sarawak, Labuan and Sabah (Pedalaman, Pantai Barat and Kudat).

The weather condition, which is dangerous to small boats, sea recreation and sports, is expected to persist until Tuesday.
