GUA MUSANG, Oct 22 (Bernama) — PAS Gua Musang division acting chief Dr. Zulkefli Mohamad, 44, was chosen as the party’s candidate for the Galas state by-election.
A medical practitioner by profession, Dr. Zulkefli runs a clinic in Chiku here.
His name was announced by PAS Spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat a ceramah in conjunction with the party’s 20-year rule in the state at Dataran Ilmu here Thursday night.
Dr. Zulkefli, the seventh of 10 siblings, was a son of former Guchil assemblyman, Mohamed Awang.
He lost twice to Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah of Barisan Nasional in contest for the Gua Musang parliamentary constituency in the 2008 and 2004 general elections.
The Galas seat fell vacant after its incumbent, Che Hashim Sulaima of PAS, died of cancer on Sept 27.
