PAS will continue to work with its Pakatan Rakyat partners in the Selangor state government, said party deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

“The Selangor government is the Pakatan Rakyat government and it is a united government,” said Tuan Ibrahim after a meeting of the party’s central committee on Wednesday night.

He had been asked to respond to comments by DAP’s Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua who had said that it was no longer business as usual in Selangor due to the decision by PAS to cut ties with DAP but remain in the opposition pact.

Pua was referring to a motion put forward by PAS Dewan Ulama committee member Mokhtar Senik at the recently-concluded PAS muktamar which received support from all 644 delegates last week.

Mokhtar had suggested last Wednesday that PAS cut ties with DAP, but retain its position in Pakatan Rakyat.

Asked about the party’s issues with DAP, Tuan Ibrahim said that the matter was being left to the Syura Council to decide.

To questions about the meeting itself, he said what was discussed was the new committees and posts.
“We will announce the new office-bearers and their posts on June 21, and the announcement will be made by the party president. The meeting was to confirm several proposals. We did not discuss other matters,” said Tuan Ibrahim.-the staronline
