State Rural, Entrepreneurial and Cooperative Development Committee chairman Datuk Mohamad Awang Tera (BN-Cukai) said Petronas, with the assistance of the state Economic Planning Unit, was currently looking for suitable sites for the stations.

“Although NGV is cheaper than petrol or diesel, only taxis and hired vehicles are using it at the moment as it is costly for private vehicles to fix NGV tanks.

“For petrol kiosks, it is not profitable if the number of NGV users is small,” he said when responding to a question from Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (PAS-Sura) (Picture).

Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut (PAS-Wakaf Mempelam) interceded by questioning why Terengganu had only one NGV station in Teluk Kalong, Kemaman despite being a gas producer whereas the Klang Valley had 86, Johor (28) and Negeri Sembilan (11).

He said the number of NGV stations in the country would be increased from 144 to 200 soon.

NGV cost 68 sen per litre compared to RON95 petrol RM1.85 per litre.
