Man Loses Car in Armed Gang robbery

SETIU – A man lost about RM30,000 after his cash, valuables and a Proton Saga FL was charted away by three robbers in a robbery near here wednesday morning.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Abd Rahman Raja Mohammad said in the 7.50am incident, the victim stopped his car for a nap at the roadside near the University Kolej Bistari in Permaisuri.

Abd Rahman said the victim who was on his way for a business trip to Kuala Terengganu from Kelantan was awakened by two men who approached him and threatened him with a ‘rambo’ knife.

Shocked with the situation, he handed over RM1,500 cash and a mobile phone. The duo then returned to their car driven by another accomplice. However, the duo later came back and pushed the victim out from his vehicle.

“The suspect then sped off with the victim’s car towards Kuala Terengganu while his accomplice headed for Permaisuri town,” he said today.

Abd Rahman said the victim who suffered injuries on his arm received outpatient treatment at Setiu hospital and lodged a report at the Setiu police station at 8.33am the same day.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code for armed gang robbery.
