DUNGUN – The Terengganu state government will replace the Malay reserved land used for developments in the state to ensure the land remain in their hands.

tanah_rizab2Its Menteri Besar, Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said all the reserved land would be protected by the state from being sold or transferred to other races.

“Currently, there are 218 hectares of Malay reserved land in the state and most of them are in the Hulu Terengganu district.

“Terengganu is among the states which has the lowest amount of the reserved land, however, we are unique compared to the other states in Malaysia, as besides the Malay reserved land, we also have Malay-held land to ensure the survival of Malay land ownership in this state,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after a working visit to Mara Ketengah International College (MKIC) in Bandar Al Muktafi Billah Shah here, today.

The Malay-held land which was less than 10 acres was ‘mukim’ land and the state government would not allow any transfer of ownership to other races.

“Even if there are, they are only a small portion of freehold land owned by Malays in the town area, which used to be rural areas earlier, that could be sold in the Bukit Payong and Seberang Takir areas,” he said, reported by Bernama

To date, only a part of the 218-hectare Malay reserved land was utilised by the state government for development and they will work towards expanding the reserved areas in the state. [ Pic right – 300 acres Malays Reserve Land in Pulau Redang sold at RM500 per acre]
