Terengganu Football Association (PBSNT) President Datuk Wan Ahmad Nizam Wan Abdul Hamid said the decision to not play on Oct 17 was made at the PBSNT executive council meeting today.
“Terengganu are ready to play on any other date except October 17. Therefore, PBSNT may not play the match on the new date set by the FAM.
“If there was an appeal for postponement, the FAM should have called both teams before making a decision that will be fair to both teams,” he said.
The FAM, upon JDT’s request, had decided to postpone the Malaysia Cup second leg quarter-final that was scheduled on Oct 11 at the Larkin Stadium to October 17 at the same venue.
The first leg quarter-final between Terengganu and JDT that was played at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu ended in a goalless draw.
Wan Ahmad Nizam said it was also decided during the meeting to urge the FAM to retain the October 11 date for the second leg.
Meanwhile, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said he would support PBSNT’s decision to boycott the match.
But he said that 50 bus loads of fans were ready to travel to Johor for the match. – Bernama
