KUALA TERENGGANU – A dry market worth at RM15 Million will be built beside the Chabang Tiga wet market to ensure that traders who are selling cloths and dry items will not be mixed up while running the business there.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the construction would begin end of this year as the state government was selecting a suitable design for the market now.

On the trader ‘s complaints of the road congestion around, he said the Kuala Terengganu City Council was negotiating with surrounding land owners to widen the road near the market.

“We are waiting for the nod from the land owners before any further action can be taken on the matter,” he told reporters after visiting the new Chabang Tiga wet market today.

On the traders’ request to return to the old wet market, Ahmad Razif said it was not possible as the old wet market would be demolished soon.

He said the site of the old Chabang Tiga wet market had been earmarked for development of a commercial complex.

“The commercial complex programme is still under the discussions,” he said.- NST
