SETIU – Terengganu recorded 770 cases of tuberculosis (TB) last year, up five per cent from the 733 cases reported during the same period the previous year.
Terengganu Health director, Datuk Dr Anwa Sulaiman, said until March this year, a total of 203 TB cases had been reported in the state with an average of 68 cases per month.

Dr Anwa said the health department, in anticipating an increase in TB cases for the next three years, had been giving serious attention to the disease.
He said the main challenge in eradicating the disease is prevention and control with last year’s recovery rate recorded at 79 per cent, which unfortunately, did not meet the World Health Organisation’s recommended rate of 85 per cent.
On dengue cases in Terengganu, he said 241 cases with one death had been recorded during the first three months of this year. — BERNAMA
