Former Election Commission deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Omar will know on Feb 27 over his libel suit against PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and four others over the issuance of identity cards in Sabah.

High Court Judicial Commissioner Lee Heng Cheong fixed the date to deliver his decision after hearing clarifications from the parties in chambers.

In his lawsuit, Wan Ahmad had contended that Mohamad Sabu or better known as Mat Sabu had on Jan 29 accused him of being involved in Projek IC, the issuance of identity cards in Sabah, which was published in Harakah’s Feb 1-3 edition.

He said the words had referred to him as the mastermind in the conspiracy to let Barisan Nasional win in Sabah during the elections.

In his claim filed on March 5, Wan Ahmad had named Mat Sabu, PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali, Harakah printer Angkatan Edaran Ent Sdn Bhd, its chief editor Ahmad Lutfi Othman and its writer Aziz Muda as defendants.-thestaronline
