According to Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom. Minister in the Prime Minister, the Attorney General has given a “green light” to the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) to enhance the power of Sharia law court and not bound by the “653” again, as reported by a local portal.
The Law “653” is limited to six strokes of the cane, a fine of RM5, 000 and only three years in prison. During this time, the Islamic Sharia Criminal Act precluded due to the restrictions of “653”. Therefore, the harsher sentences cannot be formulated to meet the legal requirements of Islam. Among them sentenced to death, more strokes or punishment that contained in the Hudud law.
If the federal government is not ready to fully implement Sharia Criminal law, give an opportunity to the majority Muslim states such as Kelantan and Terengganu to start. Best example is the Brunei Darussalam has gazetted in the Sharia Criminal Act including Hudud, Qisas and so forth as contained in the Quran and Hadith.
So once they are given the “green light” why must be put off again, this is the time the federal government to prove that they are really sincere want to implement the punishment according to real Sharia law. For the non-Muslims they do not have to worry because they are still free to choose and not subject to Sharia law because they can still use existing civil law.
We urge the government especially JAKIM given the ample opportunity explain the Sharia Criminal law through mass media such as radio / TV and also hold an open dialogue so that people would understand and not reject just like that because they are ignorant of Islamic law chapter. We hope, legislative implementation Sharia should be realized in stages as the Brunei government implementation.
Once again we emphasize that Sharia law for Muslims only if a non-Muslim wants to use it there is no prohibition is up with their respective views. Islam is a religion of justice for all. Islam has never forced followers of other religions convert to Islam by force, but those who want to convert to Islam be sincere with his own volition.
With the advent of Sharia Criminal Act, cases of brutal and violent crime can be prevented with the best possible the reason Hudud law is a means of prevention for those who like to do a serious crime. Crimes such as murder, robbery, rape, etc. more and more happening in our country, cases of serious crimes can only be prevented with the Sharia Criminal Act. Sharia Law is the command of Allah and of course He is Cognizant the best for every human being irrespective of race and religion.
